Christmas Morning

You always wanted
a chemistry set
neat box
reactive compounds
gleeful explosions
bare pink froth
will surely overflow
any moment now
spill all over
hot and spent
messy
little puddle of emotion
in which you dabble
gloved fingertips
with no regard
for his art
his mood
his chiaroscuro.

Well, maybe everyone else will ignore it, but I refuse to leave this one wanting of comment and empty. I don't think I'm in the habit of posting here, although I am a reader. You're too damn smart Lydia, so I always feel dumb and clumsy in my skin after reading you. (It may not sound as such, but that was a compliment.)

As for this post: It's amazing, even if I was entirely unfamiliar with the last word. Only slightly more comfortable in the company of the term "claire-obscure". But this is awesome.

Wow. That made my DAY. Seriously. Seems we have a case of mutual over-admiration on our hands.
