Twenty Steps Upon the Back of Julius

If I thought for an instant that you did
Not care, I would not have bothered to
Dig deep into your custard, to
Find a plump fig of John-ness;
And I would not, I would
Not have spat out mine
Into your hand
With all the
Juicy
Truth.
But then,
I might have
Anyway, since
All I ever had
Was a brother, and this
Is quite a pudding indeed.
Bring us a figgy pudding
And bring it right now, said the WASPs,
But even they could never rush it;
Their spider fingers will never crush it.
